Light-guiding lamps

Optronics has unveiled a family of four-inch round LED stop, tail, turn, and back-up lamps with “light guide” technology that offers a unique look.

Using a technique similar to fiber optics, the lamps channel LED light into shapes and patterns that were not previously possible in commercial vehicle lighting, the company says.

The 12-diode lamps feature a smoothly lit horizontal, X-shaped feature in the center of the lens, surrounded by a more traditional LED pattern. The end result is a unique look, and gives Original Equipment Manufacturers a way to introduce their own visions for future lamps.

Flange- and grommet-mounted versions should be available in the first quarter of 2018, and will be available with standard PL-3 or Weather Tight terminations.
