Livestock trailers have the wrong axle weight rating

OTTAWA, Ont. — All together some 373 owners of Kiefer Built livestock trailers should be watching the mail for new V.I.N. tags.

It turns out that the units — manufactured for a decade between 1991 and 2001 — do not comply with Regulation 6: Statement of Compliance.

The gross axle weight rating on the V.I.N./compliance tag is overstated. A revised compliance tag with installation instructions will be mailed directly to those with problem units.
