LUBER-FINER OIL ANALYSIS

Luber-finer, better known for its heavy-duty filtration products, has added oil-analysis kits to its Laboratory Fluid Analysis Program. It’s a cost-effective way to manage preventive and scheduled maintenance. The analysis tests for wear materials that can be harmful to an engine, like magnesium, copper, tin, lead and zinc. The program will monitor wear particles and the lube’s viscosity changes, along with an engine’s soot levels, to help avoid engine and component failure.

Samples can be submitted to Luber-finer by purchasing a kit and accessories from an authorized distributor. Fleet managers get written reports in a 24 to 48 hour turn-around time. Results can be accessed online.

Luber-finer will also perform monthly and yearly program reviews to validate effectiveness of the oil-analysis program you establish. These reviews include the three types of analysis that help monitor the wear particles in an engine; the OEM threshold analysis has a set limit, the trend analysis shows spikes that exceed the norm, and the statistical analysis is used when an engine maker says one number is abnormal and fleet statistics show a different number as abnormal.
