Mack Trucks introduces Lock & Leave for remote software updates
Mack Trucks is adding a new Lock & Leave feature to its over-the-air (OTA) software update system, allowing eligible remote updates to complete unattended after drivers park, lock the truck, and leave.
The company said the enhancement helps fleets keep trucks up to date while maximizing uptime and reducing interruptions to daily operations. As trucks become increasingly software-defined, remote updates are used to deliver new features, improve performance, and support recalls and service campaigns.
Drivers start an eligible update through the Driver Display Activation system before exiting the truck. The vehicle remains powered on only long enough to complete the installation before shutting down automatically. The same process can also be used by technicians updating multiple trucks in a shop.

The Lock & Leave enhancement is expected to be available this fall following final validation.
“Lock & Leave removes another barrier to remote software updates,” said Jonathan Randall, president of Mack Trucks North America. “Drivers can start the update, finish their day, and let the truck take care of the rest.”
