by Today's Trucking

The RPL10 and RPL14 are Meritor’s first medium-duty (Class 6-7) entries in the Permalube RPL driveline family, and they come permanently lubricated for service-free performance.

Meritor says its Permalube RPL Series drivelines were the first in the North American heavy-duty commercial vehicle industry to be permanently lubricated and sealed for life.

The new drivelines are engineered for medium-duty applications such as refuse, city delivery, transit buses and school buess. Other benefits include increased uptime and reduced operating costs compared to traditional driveline designs, the company adds

A high-performance U-joint with a triple lip design retains the lubricant and protects it from contaminants, while an easy-service yoke connection is made with four bolts and machined straps. Polyglide nylon coatings are designed to reduce friction and slip section axial loads.

RPL10 and RPL14 production begins in January 2021.
