Monthly rail freight down versus 2000

OTTAWA, Ont. — The freight loaded by railways in March totalled 20 million metric tonnes, excluding intermodal traffic, a decrease of 14.4 per cent compared to March 2000.

A the same time the intermodal tonnage, made up of containers on flatcars and trailers on flatcars, was two million tonnes.

This actually went up 2.4 per cent compared with the same period in 2000.
