Morgan Olson van has Crosspoint Kinetics hybrid drive

Crosspoint Kinetics and Morgan Olson announced a hybrid walk-in van partnership at the recent Work Truck Show. The former outfit is itself a partnership between Cummins and Cummins Crosspoint.

The Kinetics hybrid transforms Morgan Olson’s Cummins-powered class 3-7 delivery vans and trucks into more fuel-efficient vehicles by way of a parallel electric hybrid system that bolts onto the driveline and captures kinetic energy while slowing and braking. The resultant electricity is stored in long-life ultra-capacitors where it can be used as incremental power to launch and accelerate the vehicle. Users have reported up to 30% better fuel mileage in heavy start/stop duty cycles, the companies say.

The Kinetics system is said to be easy to install and operate in small transit buses, shuttles, and service/delivery vehicles. It has successfully completed independent performance testing and has been validated by an estimated 5 million miles of customer driving throughout North America.
