Motive has unveiled new AI-powered fraud controls exclusively for its Motive Card users. The feature is designed to help fleets identify and prevent fuel fraud before it happens.

During a 30-day trial, the system flagged more than US$250,000 in unauthorized transactions across over 1,200 instances, the company said in a news release.

The fraud controls integrate telematics data from Motive’s fleet management platform to automatically identify and decline suspicious fuel card transactions. Motive says the controls provide an unmatched level of accuracy and security, delivering significant savings for fleets while improving operational efficiency.

The new features include location mismatch detection, which compares vehicle location data with fuel card transactions and declines any that don’t align. Alerts for mismatches in fuel type or tank levels enable fleet managers to freeze cards or block merchants as needed. Additionally, customizable spending limits allow managers to control expenses by merchant type, time of day, or specific locations, giving fleets tighter control over spending.

Motive says the integration of telematics and transaction data provides fleets with a comprehensive view of operations, helping to eliminate unauthorized spending, improve profit margins, and enhance overall efficiency.
