Kenworth’s new extended protection plans for the 2013 PACCAR MX-13 engine (pictured here) include options in three coverage categories — Comprehensive, Modified, and Major Component — as well as extended aftertreatment offerings. Overall, the available options range from three to seven years and from 100,000 to 700,000 miles.
The MX-13 has a standard base warranty of two years or 250,000 miles, whichever comes first. It’s available on new Kenworth truck orders for delivery in 2013, sporting the latest common-rail fuel-delivery technology.
Truck buyers can add the extra coverage in three ways: when ordering the new truck, when registering it for warranty, or for up to 18 months after the truck is warranty-registered (mileage and engine hour limitations apply). No registration fee is required for extended engine protection added to any new Kenworth up to 12 months after purchase. There will be a $400 registration fee for each extended warranty order placed from 13 through 18 months after truck purchase.
The 6.7-liter PACCAR PX-7 and 8.9-liter PX-9 get two optional extended warranty plans, each offering a total of 20 different duration and mileage combinations. There are also nine engine aftertreament options available in conjunction with Protection Plan 1. Overall, extended warranty coverages range from three to seven years and from 100,000 to 300,000 miles.
The PX-7’s standard base warranty is two years with no mileage limit. The PX-9 base coverage is two years or 250,000 miles, whichever comes first.
