NORTHVILLE, Mich. — Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America says its heavy-duty starters are now standard equipment on all Class 8 International trucks.

The company claims it was named the standard starter manufacturer because of competitive pricing, high performance ratings, reliability and a strong warranty record.

“Navistar originally embarked on a relationship with Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America based on its reputation for providing a high-quality product,” said Lloyd Sergent, purchasing manager, electrical systems, Navistar. “We’re extremely pleased to see them deliver on our expectations. Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America’s commitment to quality is integrating well with Navistar’s goal of supplying a superior product to the marketplace.”

Mitsubishi says its heavy-duty starters use a planetary gear reduction and sealed design, an integrated magnetic relay, a solid-shaft solenoid and electrical soft-start technology to deliver optimum reliability and durability. The starters are also lightweight, weighing 29 lbs, allowing for easy installation and increased payload, the company claims.
