MONCTON, N.B. — The Department of Transportation is simplifying spring weight restrictions to the benefit of the trucking industry.
For 2004, spring weight restrictions will be imposed throughout the entire province effective midnight on Mar. 14 and will be removed at midnight on May 23.
Weight restrictions for trucks are imposed each year during the spring thaw period to protect the highway system. Previously, the DOT didn’t announce the date the restrictions would be lifted until early May.
A detailed notice listing affected highways will be posted on the DOT Web site at www.gnb.ca (keyword: transportation) soon.
