New air ride suspension
BROOKSTON, Ind. — Tuthill Transport Technologies has announced a new truck air ride suspension offering a gross axle weight rating (GAWR) of 17,000 to 23,000lb per axle.
The 79AR was designed for Class 6 and 7 vocational trucks with single drive axles. The kits have been specifically designed for Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner, Western Star, Mack and Sterling models and can be adapted to any truck with standard-dimension frame rails.
The 79AR comes from an existing proven steel spring suspension — the ReycoGranning 79 KB — and incorporates existing hangers, axle connections, torque arms, bushings and hardware.
“The 79AR will be available for installation at dealers and aftermarket facilities in North America starting in early 2002,” says Ray Mueller, vice-president in engineering at Tuthill Transport Technologies.
“We are offering a special conversion kit which lets dealers convert trucks with an existing 79KB to an air ride suspension with a very moderate amount of work. The ability to re-use existing components saves money and increases the resale value of used truck inventories.
