Omnitracs system focuses on distracted driving

by Today's Trucking

Omnitracs has updated its SmartSense system with SmartSense for Inattentive Driving+ — a package that combines cab-facing cameras, AI and computer vision to detect issues like suspected sleep, drowsiness, cell phone use, smoking, and general inattention.

The tool tracks head position, eyelids, the direction of a driver’s eyes, seatbelt use, and phone use.

Using two cameras in a single unit, Omnitracs says it offers complete visibility in the cab and can even tell if a driver wearing sunglasses is inattentive.

It adds to the risk detection already built into the SR4.

Other features include over-the-air upgrades, and wide-angle and zoom-in views to offer added context.
