Optronics’ Fusion X LED adds new compliance features

by Today's Trucking

Optronics’ new Fusion X LED combo lamp provides stop, tail, turn, backup and warning lights, while allowing their brake function to override the warning function while in use.

The lights feature a signature X LED lighting array in their centers. By consolidating multiple lighting functions into a single lamp footprint, Optronics does away with the need for separate mounting holes. The compliant warning light function is the newest addition to the Fusion Series ELD line.

Previously, combination lamps with warning light features didn’t meet FMVSS 108 standards, Optronics says, as their flashing warning lights continued to operate even when the brake lights illuminated.

That problem was solved by disabling the warning light function as soon as the brake light is illuminated on the Fusion X LED combination lamps.

Four pre-programmed flash patterns are available. The X-shaped array in the center servs as a white backup light and a white, amber, or alternating white/amber flasher with two cadences to choose from.

The new STLW and STL Fusion X family of combination stop, tail, turn, backup and warning lights are available in sample form now and are expected to be commercially available for shipping in the fourth quarter of 2022, the company says.
