DENTON, Texas — Peterbilt has announced the availability of a new Model 388 low-profile configuration tractor built specifically for the car carrier industry.

The new truck is available for order immediately. It boasts a lower cab height to allow for the aftermarket installation of an over-the-cab car carrier body, which maximizes the number of vehicles hauled. The low cab height allows customers to haul larger vehicles above the cab.

The new truck can be spec’d with a wide variety of engines up to 600 hp as well as various suspensions.

“The new Low-Profile Model 388 provides an ideal option for customers requiring lower height requirements,” says Larry Reding, Peterbilt assistant general manager of sales and marketing. “The Model 388 refines traditional Peterbilt styling with fuel efficient enhancements to raise the bar for performance, durability and resale value.”

Other features of the new truck include: a slightly sloped aluminum hood for visibility; improved, longer-lasting headlamps which increase forward lighting by 226%; a lightweight, aluminum cab; a multiplex electrical system; and a durable chassis design for excellent handling and maneuverability.
