TORONTO, Ont. — Drivers around The Greater Toronto Area can get ready for trickier traffic patterns at night thanks to two impending closings of the Don Valley Parkway.

The southbound lanes of the city’s main downtown traffic artery will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday to Thursday of this week to repave the surface at a cost of about $1.3 million.

The closing will affect only the southbound lanes from Eglinton Ave. E. to the Gardiner Expressway.

But both northbound and southbound lanes of the Don Valley will be closed all next weekend from Hwy. 401 south to the Gardiner Expressway, from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Works crews will tackle five separate projects, including lighting installation, work on two overpasses and general maintenance.

For drivers accustomed to highway driving, a detour over Hwy. 427 south is an option.
