Reliable Kenworth T600 passes one million miles

KIRKLAND, Wash. — Apollo Express Inc. acquired a used 1995 Kenworth T600 at the launch of their business four years ago. It has passed one million miles and is still going strong.

“Our drivers love that Kenworth,” said Tom Cooke, Apollo vice president. “You’d be hard-pressed to tell that truck from one that has one-third the miles. The paint is bright, the aluminum is shiny and the whole truck is tight. Its fuel mileage is as good as or better than our other trucks and it requires little maintenance. The only major thing we’ve done to it is put in a bigger engine.

“We rely on that Kenworth T600 to haul auto parts to and from the auto plants and their suppliers throughout the U.S., and the truck has delivered for us from the first day,” Cooke said. “We’ll probably drive it for at least another year.”

The outstanding performance of its million-mile Kenworth, combined with the dedicated support from Michigan Kenworth in Grand Rapids, Mich., has convinced Apollo to increase its reliance on Kenworth. Apollo has expanded to 15 Kenworth tractors and straight trucks and plans to buy two tractors and two new trucks in 2004.
