SAF-Holland expands air treatment system for demanding applications
SAF-Holland has introduced the Haldex ApolloSDx air treatment system for demanding applications between linehaul and severe-duty.
The new offering joins the company’s existing line of air treatment systems, including the GeminiMDx, DRYest and PURest products, designed to remove water vapor, moisture, oil particles and other contaminants from the truck’s air system before entering the air brake reservoirs.

The ApolloSDx was launched at the Technology & Maintenance Council show in Nashville, Tenn., March 9. It is aimed at applications that fit between standard and severe-duty, namely OTR linehaul, dump truck, roll-off, refuse, straight and service trucks, and terminal tractors.
It incorporates Haldex’s existing air drying technologies, including the Consep condenser/separator and PURest air dryer.
The ApolloSDx features a compact design to optimize undercarriage space and comes preassembled on a custom mounting bracket for easy installation.
“Where you have drastic swings in temperatures or dusty environments, that’s where the ApolloSDx is going to shine,” said Barry Williams, senior commercial product manager, air controls.
“We had a gap. That gap was, what if it’s not a linehaul application and not a severe-duty application where we have high demand for air; how do we address that?”
It answered that question with the ApolloSDx, which features two-year service cycles compared to two or more per year. The cartridge is replaced every two years and there’s no need for winter alcohol or antifreeze additives.
Williams also said the company anticipates warranty claim rates to be less than half of 1%, in line with the GemineMDx.
