Samsara launches Recognition tool for drivers

Samsara has launched a new feature called Recognition, aimed at helping fleets improve driver retention and safety culture by highlighting and rewarding positive on-road behavior in real time.

The tool uses AI-powered insights and real-time driver data to identify key safety milestones — such as safe driving streaks, improvements in performance, or consistent compliance with hours-of-service (HOS) regulations. It is fully integrated into the Samsara Driver App, allowing fleet managers to deliver timely, personalized feedback without increasing administrative workload.

“Recognition represents a shift in how fleets can foster a culture of safety,” said Johan Land, senior vice-president of product and engineering at Samsara, in a news release. “Rather than focusing solely on correcting risky behavior, we’re giving safety leaders tools to celebrate drivers for what’s going well – boosting morale, building trust and reinforcing the habits that keep drivers and communities safe.”

The new feature includes dashboards and mobile views that make performance visible to both drivers and managers. It also allows for customized “kudos” messages to reinforce safe behavior. Samsara claims fleets such as DHL, Home Depot, and the City of Memphis have already seen measurable results using its platform, with improvements including reduced accident costs, lower claims, and a significant drop in distracted driving.

Recognition is now available globally and comes built into Samsara’s existing Connected Operations platform with no need for additional software or integration.
