Satellite radio war heats up

TORONTO, Ont. — Sirius Canada says it has 200,000 paying subscribers, giving it a 70% share of the retail market for home and portable satellite radios in Canada.

The companys figures don’t include those units factory-installed in vehicles. XM Radio claims it had 120,00 subscribers as of Aug. 31 with 91,200 of those paying monthly subscription fees.

XM reported a net loss of $102.7 million for the year to Aug. 31. Sirius does not release its financial statements.
