DEARBORN, Mich. — Urea suppliers met with other stakeholders here last week to discuss the rollout of urea in advance of the EPA2010 emissions requirements which will see the widespread use of trucks with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems.

Nearly 200 public and private organizations were represented at the meetings, including several government agencies.

The group developed a number of objectives, including: to exchange information with the US government and other stakeholders on the potential market and need for SCR technology and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF or urea) availability; to engage potential distributors of urea and determine the conditions necessary for provision of retail availability before a profitable market exists; and to consider effective education tools and outreach to consumers and commercial markets about DEF, its use and availability.
