With the introduction of the new 2007 Alliance Premium Auxiliary Power Unit, Alliance Parts says it has taken the next step in the evolution of anti-idling solutions to help drivers manage fuel costs and stay in compliance with regulations. The APU complies with anti-idling laws while providing 12,000 BTUs of air conditioning, 10,000 BTUs of heating and 3,300 watts of 110-volt electricity. The one-cylinder engine burns one-tenth of a gallon of fuel per hour and weighs 418 lbs. The freestanding unit operates independently of the factory HVAC system, integrating only through a supply and return line to the fuel tank. As a result, the APU does not violate any factory warranties and requires no inverter to operate. The new model also features a new air intake and filter design, with a custom engineered muffler, as well as additional insulation material to reduce noise. Further information can be found at www.alliancebrandparts.com.

Comfort Innovations officially unveiled GO COOL, a portable air conditioner, which will use the truck’s battery to draw less than 2.5 amps of power to provide air conditioning to the cab without running the engine. GO COOL uses ice or frozen gel packs to air condition an enclosed space of about 800 cu.-ft. The unit will cool for approximately six to eight hours with ice and between 13 to 16 hours using the frozen gel packs. The air conditioner is designed to operate on interchangeable electrical cords for use with internationally recognized outlets, a battery, or a vehicle lighter receptacle.
