FERGUS, Ont. — The 16th annual Fergus Truck Show pulled in great numbers once again during their two-day event held July 21 and 22.

Approximately 40,000 people took in the many events including truck pulls, the show and shine, exhibitor displays and a whole lot of fun for the family.

In the show and shine, Steve and Mary Toole of Droh Inc. won the people’s choice for best truck of the show with a 1998 Excel Freightliner. The same truck also cleaned up for best ’97 to ’98 working truck, best mural and best displayed truck area.

David Hall, owner of Droh Inc. (25 truck fleet) based out of Cambridge said the reaction to his team winning was not one of surprise. “The team that runs that truck (the Toole’s) keep it looking like that at all times. If you happen to see it on the road it looks the same as it did at the truck show. They do all the work on it themselves,” he says.

Hall says he has always enjoyed the Fergus Truck Show. “I enjoy the combination of the truck pulls and the show and shine. I go every year, whether I have any of my trucks in there or not.”

Show administrator, Sherri Clarke said the numbers for exhibitors on display were up while show and shine participants were down by approximately 40 trucks. Clarke attributed this to the struggling economy.
