SmartDrive Protect keeps artificial eyes on the road and drivers

Solera’s SmartDrive Protect is a new video-based system that gives small fleets a tool to exonerate themselves from collisions, reward safe driving, and coach driver habits.

The AI-based technology captures continuous video and identifies things like harsh acceleration, braking, cornering, speeding, tailgating, stop sign violations, and distracted driving, the company says.

Using a driver-facing camera, the system will monitor head positions to identify distracted behaviors. And the front-facing and driver-facing cameras alike are always recording when the ignition is on – giving fleets a virtual ridealong or access to video from a precise time and location.

All the data is delivered through a dashboard to help identify broad trends as well as those specific to individual trips and drivers.

A driver coaching workflow identifies risky trends and supports coaching sessions for drivers.
