Splined Rotor a Snap, Bendix Says

Bendix says its new Splined Rotor reduces disc-brake rotor maintenance time by 80% since it eliminates the need to remove the caliper, carrier, axle shaft, bearing, and hub. It takes four simple steps to remove the rotor: 1) remove the pads; 2) install the wedge tools in place of the pads; 3) apply foot-brake pedal to apply brake pressure and fracture the rotor; and 4) turn the rotor 180 degrees and repeat step three to fracture the other side. Once the rotor has been cracked, both sides can easily be pulled off the wheel end.

Replacing the rotor also needs just four steps: 1) install the first half of pre-fractured rotor onto splines and rotate the rotor into the caliper; 2) install second half of rotor and insert two bolts; 3) install spring shims and clip ring; and 4) install the new pads.
