MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Donaldson Company Inc. announced it has been recognized in a recent, third-party survey as the preferred supplier of replacement mufflers by medium- and heavy-duty truck owners.

Conducted by leading independent research firm, MacKay & Company, the 2003 North American on-highway truck market study surveyed preferences for diesel engine replacement muffler brands and was distributed to Class 6 through Class 8 vehicle operators and maintenance staff.

According to the study, Donaldson mufflers are the leading choice for replacement on Class 8 trucks, acquiring 48 percent of the responses. Similarly, Donaldson replacement mufflers are the most-specified on Class 6 and Class 7 trucks, garnering 44 percent of the responses.

“The study results by MacKay & Company solidify our commitment to providing customers with the highest-quality mufflers possible,” said Steve Kean, director of marketing – engine systems and parts, Donaldson Company.

Compared to the previous MacKay & Company survey released in 1999, Donaldson mufflers for Class 6 and Class 7 trucks gained a considerable percentage of market share, rising 28 percentage points.
