TalentTrack helping prepare foreign trucking workers for success

by Today's Trucking

An Oshawa, Ont., company has been established to help trucking firms give foreign workers the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in Canada.

TalentTrack by Synergy Lab is working with the Ontario Truck Training Academy (OTTA) and other groups to help guide employers through the necessary steps to hire international workers, including the documentation process and submitting a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).

When a foreign worker is hired, TalentTrack provides that worker with expert-led, industry-specific courses. They include topics such as: occupational health and employee rights, income tax, personal banking, cultural translations, cybersecurity basics, mental health and settlement services.

“We hadn’t considered hiring international recruits to alleviate our hiring struggles until we partnered with Synergy Lab for its TalentTrack program,” said Yves Bertrand of Grant’s Transportation. “It’s proven a great opportunity and has provided the guidance we need, as we’re new to this process. We like how Synergy Lab works with candidates and their overall vibe. Being based in Ontario is a big factor as well. By bringing people to Ontario, we’re helping the Ontario economy, and it helps us as an Ontario-based, family-owned business.”
