Test Driving Paccar’s New Automated Transmission

Paccar is the latest OEM to claim its own proprietary integrated powertrain. For Paccar, it began with the MX-11 and MX-13 engines in 2010. Last October, the company announced a proprietary drive axle, the 40,000-lb Paccar Tandem Drive Axle. And on August 22, 2017, Paccar announced the final link in its integrated drivetrain the 12-speed Paccar Automated Transmission. Equipment Editor, Jim Park has already had one out for a test drive. He says it performs like a veteran, never mission an opportunity to skip shift, and the low-speed operation is smoother than silk.
