LEXINGTON, Ky. — Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme synthetic engine oil provides significant fuel economy benefits for Class 8 trucks, according to a test program conducted by an independent laboratory.

The test program initiated by Valvoline studied the fuel efficiency potential of Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme SAE 5W-40 synthetic engine oil.

Testing followed the only recognized protocol that runs on the interstate highway system, the US Environmental Protection Agency SmartWay Fuel Efficiency test protocol. The protocol showed statistically significant test results with up to a 3% maximum improvement in fuel economy.

“Today the average savings for an on-highway, 1000-truck fleet can exceed $1 million annually,” said Vic Kersey, technical director at the Ashland Valvoline Engine Testing Laboratory in Ashland, Ky. “Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme can build savings by reducing fuel consumption and extending oil drain intervals.”

Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme engine oil is designed to meet the most demanding needs of modern diesel engines, including 2007 models equipped with DPF and enhanced EGR, running both ultra low-sulfur diesel fuel and low-sulfur diesel fuel.
