There’s no doubt now that trucking is facing a labour crisis. This industry is having difficulty attracting new people to the fold, especially young people. While we’re having our share of problems attracting entry-level talent, older skilled workers are leaving our industry faster than we can replace them.
We can do all the recruiting we want, but until trucking comes to terms with WHY people aren’t interested in becoming truck drivers — and why experienced drivers are leaving — we’ll be no closer to solving our labour problems. This week, Jim Park talks with Michael Selick, a 34-year-old driver with three year’s experience who says he has had enough. Listen to this week’s feature and find out why.
