MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Thermo King is now offering an innovative refrigeration unit for trucks aimed at increasing reliability and performance while reducing fuel and maintenance costs, announced the company.

The MD-100 unit is powered by the TK 370 three-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine.

“With growing concerns about rising fuel costs, as well as noise and exhaust emissions, the MD-100 can help solve these problems,” explained Tim Ryan, director, truck product management. “The TK 370 engine meets all EPA requirements and the unit’s low-decibel sound reduction system allows for quieter unit operation.”

In addition, Thermo King’s MD-100 features the SMART REEFER Controller, a microprocessor designed for operators to maintain ideal conditions and monitor system performance. The SMART REEFER also features the TherMax system to provide faster defrost and superior heating capacity, and two belt-driven dual evaporator fans to deliver superior airflow.

“Our high-output fans allow faster box temperature pull-downs, minimal temperature fluctuations and virtual elimination of hot spots and short cycling,” said Ryan.

The MD-100 also comes standard equipped with Thermo King’s EMI-2000 filter and fluids package for extended maintenance intervals and reduced operating costs.
