TAMPA, Fla. — International was on-hand at the Technology and Maintenance Council meetings in Tampa this week, to showcase its Innovation 2 interactive technology truck.

The high-tech International DuraStar allows fleet managers to better understand the electronic features available on International trucks, the company said. The vehicle showcases features available through International, such as: the companys Diamond Logic electrical system; AWARE vehicle intelligence; and PowerPack 3.

Not only is International the leader in commercial trucks, it is the leader in truck technology, Steve Guillaume, general manager, Medium Truck, International, said in a release. Advances in multiplexing, telematics and power generation have put International trucks above other OEMs in terms of providing customers with integrated business solutions and superior customer satisfaction.

One of the functions being highlighted by the Innovation 2 truck is Diamond Logic. This electrical system helps the truck chassis better integrated with the body, improving performance, company officials said. The number of wires and connections is minimized and the system is fully programmable for automation of tasks. The Diamond Logic electrical system allows for: automatic external lighting pre-trip lamp inspection; headlights are turned on automatically when the wipers are engaged; engine remote start/stop; theft deterrent systems; and an electrical load manager.

Also highlighted on the Innovation 2 truck was the AWARE Vehicle Intelligence system. This allows fleet managers to track their fleet and also access instant diagnosis reports. GPS technology is used to track vehicles and in-vehicle monitors provide key operating data to the driver. Fleet managers can access the reports through secure wireless networks.

Information available through AWARE includes: vehicle location and critical data snapshots; a record of stops; geofencing monitoring; text messaging; fuel consumption and idle time reporting; maintenance and service scheduling; and instant remote diagnostic reporting.

PowerPack 3 is also being showcased on Internationals Innovative 2 tech-truck. Its a 3,000-watt AC power system thats mounted right onto the truck. The system provides auxiliary power at about $1/kW, eliminating the need for add-on generators. International officials said the PowerPack 3 system can be factory-installed and provides power for tools, lights, test equipment and compressors. The system is surge-free, company officials said, and enclosed within the battery box so it doesnt interfere with cargo space.
