Trail King upgrades two trailer designs

by Today's Trucking

Trail King has updated its best-selling trailers, its steel side dump and bottom dump models.

The Trail King Steel Side Dump features a two-piece rolled tub design for fast, stable unloading, ensuring material is dumped further away and eliminating carry back, the company says. Main frame I-beams are constructed of one-piece web and flange material for improved strength and durability.

The rolled tub is made of 6-mm Hardox 450 and the round bottom delivers a fast unloading process, the company says. Fewer weld seams reduce the chance of cracking and save weight.

An additional center tub pivot was added for smoother dumping and increased stability. Maintenance is improved thanks to a removable drop-in kingpin, greaseless bushings, remote cylinder grease lines, and bolt-on parts. A new tub geometry increases tub-to-truck clearance when dumping and offers better rearview visibility.

The Trail King Bottom Dump trailer is lighter, thanks to lightweight cross-bracing and its gusset design, which minimizes the twisting and flexing in key stress areas. It features a full oscillating fifth wheel plate with chrome bushed design that reduces trailer stress and extends service life, the company says.

Bolt-on parts simplify maintenance and a large 11’6” clam with overlapping knife edge ensure full closure of the gate. Continuous hopper slopes with a 54”x99” hopper opening ensure complete dumping and reduces material buildup.
