FALCONER, N.Y. — Truck-Lite recently adapted a traditional incandescent work lamp and given it a powerful light output with LED technology.

We took everything good about the incandescent version and incorporated a LED light source within a robust housing to create a heavy-duty product we are confident will last the long haul, said John Howells, vice-president of sales the Americas for Truck-Lite.

With a 100,000-hour lamp life, the lamps six diodes are encapsulated in epoxy for superior protection against moisture and corrosion, noted the lighting manufacturer. The pedestal-mounted product is made of a polycarbonate lens, powder-coated cast aluminum housing and stainless steel mounting hardware to combat corrosion.

Side by side comparisons will just blow you away, added Howells. With an intense bright, white appearance through the entire voltage range, the LED work lamp comes to full brightness much sooner than the incandescent versions. The lamp is designed to operate in a 12V environment, but will function at full brightness from 8.5V 16V, drawing only 1.2 amps compared to the incandescent 2.93 amp draw.

This lamp is ideal for general illumination for vehicle maintenance and inspections, but can also extend to numerous other applications. The new LED product can support service lighting needs, yard tractor applications, tractor-trailers, forklifts, agricultural lighting as well as airport ground support vehicles.
