PRESCOTT, Ont. — Two tractor-trailers stolen from the Waterloo area were recovered following a pursuit by police on Hwy. 401, near Prescott, Monday night.

The stolen trucks were pursued by provincial police while travelling eastbound on Hwy. 401 just east of Prescott at about 10:45 p.m. After confirming the trucks had been stolen from the Waterloo area, several police cruisers tried to pull the vehicles over.

The first truck stopped just west of Cardinal while the second truck fled. Police chased the rig for 65 km before officers using a spike belt were able to stop it near Avonmore.

The driver fled on foot into nearby woods and was caught nearly 2 km away by a tactical team and canine unit.

Patrick Barnard, 29, of Montreal is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police. Police have also charged Eldridge Lindsey, 39, of Montreal with two counts of possession of stolen property.
