MONTREAL, Que. — Universal Boot and Aciers Robond have entered into an agreement to distribute a new patented fuel tank locking system, the companies have announced.

The all-weather, theft-resistant locking fuel cap developed by Robond can be fitted to fuel tanks on most types of trucks, the companies say. The lock comes with a personalized code.

“The industry is strongly affected by gas price increases, independent drivers more specifically, as the price of fuel has a direct impact on their net income,” said Jacques Vallee, president of Universal Boot. “We were looking for a good quality locking system that we could support nationwide with our proprietary lock and key system. With Robond’s system, we have the quality and variety of locks that will allow us to service most heavy-duty and medium/light vehicles on the road today. By preventing the theft of a single full tank of gas, the system pays for itself.”

The distribution agreement between the two companies will be expanded to include kingpin, back door and hasp locks as well as other safety devices which all use the same key system, the company says. For more information, visit www.universalboot.com or call 888-354-5699.
