Vancouver trailer firm goes for lion’s share of market

VANCOUVER — Lions Gate Trailers of Vancouver has acquired Provincial Trailer Rentals (PTR) and its sister company Contor Terminals of Mississauga, Ont. in a move that PTR President Gord Box describes as a natural eastward evolution.

Lion’s Gate, with about 5,000 units, is one of western Canada’s largest trailer rental companies, with branches in Calgary and Edmonton.

For more than 40 years, PTR, another privately held trailer rental and leasing specialist, has provided similar services in Eastern Canada.

“There’re lots of synergies between Lion’s Gate and PTL,” Box says.

PTR has facilities in Mississauga, Montreal, Hamilton and Cambridge, Ont.

Contor Terminals, also about 40-years old, is an intermodal container depot and portable steel building manufacturer based in Mississauga.

Box says the two companies will continue to operate under their current management formats. “This acquisition allows Lions Gate and PTR to provide their customers a full range of services from Vancouver to Quebec City,” he says.
