VOLVO CUTS 400, TO MAKE FEWER SLEEPER-CABS

NEW RIVER VALLEY, Va — Volvo Trucks North America is eliminating about 400 jobs from its New River Valley, Va. Facility, which provides rigs to the sleeper-cab market.

The cuts are in response to downturns in the industry.

Volvo says it is refocusing its efforts on making daycab units.

The affected hourly and salaried employees will be notified within two weeks.

New River Valley employs 2,0000. Volvo Trucks employs about 3,900 people in the U.S.
