Volvo launches Load Finder to help customers reduce unloaded miles

Volvo Trucks North America is now offering Load Finder to help carriers turn empty miles into revenue.

Unlike traditional load boards that require costly subscriptions, Load Finder is available at no cost to Volvo customers, the company said. It was brought to market to help customers eliminate deadhead miles, which can account for up to 16% of all non-tank truck operations, according to data from the American Transportation Research Institute.

“Deadheading represents lost time, lost money, and unnecessary environmental impact for our customers and for the industry,” said Peter Voorhoeve, president, Volvo Trucks North America. “With Load Finder, we are offering a simple, free service that helps fleets improve utilization, lower costs, and reduce emissions. It is another example of how Volvo Trucks is helping our customers improve total cost of ownership through innovative solutions.”

The new tool collects data from more than 40 load boards and can work with other truck brands. Canadian freight tech company Class8 co-developed the data integration feed from Volvo to improve load recommendations.

The new tool is available through its fleet management platform Volvo Connect.
