GREENSBORO, N.C. — Volvo Trucks North America has announced a reorganization it says properly aligns itself within the organizational structure of its parent company, Volvo Global Trucks.

Four commercial functional areas will report directly to Michel Gigou, president and chief executive officer of Volvo Trucks North America.

Truck Sales and Distribution: Bill Dawson has been appointed senior vice-president of sales. Reporting to Dawson will be the regional vice-presidents of sales, national accounts, sales administration, and dealer development.

Truck Marketing: Susan Alt will remain in her position as vice-president of marketing, but she will now report directly to Gigou. Reporting to Alt will be advertising, product marketing, market research and analysis, Volvo Power, sales engineering, and order entry.

Customer Support: Harold Wiegel, formerly of Mack Trucks, will move to Greensboro to take on the position of vice-president of customer support. The entire service support and service training team will report to Wiegel.

Parts Sales and Marketing: Dwight McAlexander, general manager of parts operations, will serve as the interim leader of this area until a vice-president is named. Reporting to him will be dealer and national parts sales and parts marketing.

As a result of the restructuring, an entire layer of senior sales management was eliminated.

“This reorganization will help us meet the challenges ahead and take full advantage of our two greatest assets — our products and our people,” says Gigou.

Earlier this year, Volvo eliminated its top management position in Canada as a precursor to these changes.
