Volvo Trucks adds Chicago parts centre

GREENSBORO, NC — Volvo Trucks has added a new parts distribution center in Joliet, Ill., outside of Chicago.
The new PDC joins Volvo’s existing PDCs in Reno, Nev., Memphis, Tenn., Columbus, Ohio, and Toronto, Ont.

“Providing excellent customer service is the reason for this expansion,” said Rikard Jonsson, senior vice-president — Parts, Sales and Marketing.

“Our customers cannot afford to have trucks down, waiting for parts to arrive. Volvo’s commitment to customer satisfaction means we must support customers by having the right parts available where and when they are needed. The addition of this large, fully stocked, strategically located PDC will shorten parts delivery times to dealers in the Midwest, in some cases to overnight, and will enhance parts availability throughout our network.

“This expansion is also necessary for Volvo to meet its commitment to its dealers, to provide them with the resources they need to satisfy their customers,” he said.

The Chicago PDC has a total of 325,000 square feet and is expected to fill more than 400,000 orders for parts annually.
