GREENSBORO, N.C. — Volvo Trucks North America, Inc. recently honored Thomas Industries of Greensboro, N.C., with its Crystal Globe award for Thomas’ outstanding work as a supplier to Volvo.

In addition, Kevin Thomas, founder and president of Thomas Industries, received a scholarship from Volvo to attend the Minority-Owned Business Executive program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

The scholarship was presented by Stephen Humphrey, Volvo’s supplier diversity manager. Thomas Industries has been a supplier to Volvo since 1987. The company supports Volvo Trucks North America’s marketing efforts by transporting and preparing trucks for high-profile trade shows and special programs across North America.

This requires a close working relationship between Thomas Industries and Volvo personnel, as well as with Volvo Trucks dealers and customers. Mr. Thomas is a 1986 graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, with a degree in business and marketing.

In September 2003, Volvo was named the 2003 Corporation of the Year by the Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council (CMSDC).
