GREENSBORO, N.C. — Volvo Trucks North America has tapped Peter Karlsten as its new president, replacing the outgoing Michel Gigou whose contract expires at the end of the year.

Gigou will continue serving with the company until the end of the year, but Karlsten will take over his new role as president on Oct. 1. Karlsten is currently president of Volvo Trucks in Brazil.

“Michel Gigou has done an excellent job in managing the co-ordination of our North American operations and can be proud to have succeeded in accomplishing a significant earnings improvement. I fully respect his choice to return to Europe when his contract expires at year-end,” said AB Volvo Chief Executive Officer Leif Johansson.
