Western Star rolls out 68-inch Stratosphere

Western Star Trucks
Not everyone can use an 82-inch sleeper. Sure, who wouldn’t want the extra room, but depending on the overall length laws where you run, having to choose between more room in the sleeper and more revenue on the trailer is no choice at all.

So Western Star Trucks has introduced a 68-inch version of its Stratosphere Star Light Sleeper. Available in the second quarter of 2004, the 68-inch Stratosphere is an option for all Western Star 4900 models, including the EX (132-inch BBC set-forward front axle), 4900 FA (set-forward front axle in both 109- and 123-inch BBCs) and 4900 SA (set-back front axle in both 109- and 123-inch BBCs).

Like the 82-incher, you can stand up tall and walk across the flat floor through to the sleeper compartment without having to crouch or worry about funky steps or ledges. Western Star offers two trim levels, both with numerous cabinet, storage, window and lighting options. Three bunk configurations are available, including a dinette package that provides two seats and a table. An optional skylight window also adds to the sleeper’s airy feel.

And since the Stratosphere isn’t integral to the cab, you can convert the truck to a day cab if it helps your resale value.
