VANCOUVER, B.C. — Westport Innovations announced that it has been selected as one of the fastest growing Canadian technology companies, based on percentage revenue growth over a five-year period, for inclusion in the Deloitte 2004 Technology Fast 50 list.

Westport was one of 14 B.C. technology firms to make it to the final 50 from across Canada.

“We are very pleased to be recognized by Deloitte in this select group of Canadian companies,” said David Demers, President and CEO of Westport Innovations Inc. “Technology companies, particularly startups, face two unique challenges compared to traditional business: first, we must nurture innovative technologies until they are ready for the market, and then we must create a market for the new idea. Neither task is easy or predictable, but – obviously – there are many Canadian technology companies who have managed this successfully. We are proud to be among a list of peers who fit this strategic profile.”

The Deloitte Technology Fast 50 is an annual award honouring the 50 fastest growing Canadian technology companies. It is the only award specifically for technology companies in Canada.
