ZF debuts TraXon 2 hybrid transmission in North America
ZF introduced its TraXon 2 hybrid automated manual transmission (AMT) to the North American market at ACT Expo 2025.
The TraXon 2 hybrid is engineered to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions across multiple duty cycles. According to a news release, the transmission can deliver up to 14% fuel and CO₂ savings in short-haul hybrid electric applications and up to 9% in longhaul operations. For plug-in hybrid applications, potential savings can reach up to 40%, depending on vehicle weight, battery size, and charging infrastructure availability.
The technology is expected to be on the road in 2026.

“The debut of the TraXon 2 hybrid in North America highlights ZF’s commitment to
advancing cleaner mobility solutions for the commercial vehicle industry,” said John Hawkins, senior vice-president of the Americas for ZF’s commercial vehicle solutions division, in the release. “Whether it’s full electrification, hybrid systems, or highly efficient ICE-based transmissions, we’re focused on delivering performance and total cost of ownership advantages across all segments.”
