Authorities issue 22 charges after stopping 19 trucks in southwestern Ontario

Authorities stopped 19 commercial vehicles in southwestern Ontario and issued 22 charges during a recent joint traffic safety initiative.

Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation and Sarnia Police Service inspected commercial vehicles on July 10.

The initiative focused on inspections, ensuring compliance with traffic laws, and promoting road safety, according to an OPP news release. These coordinated efforts are aimed at identifying unsafe vehicles and drivers, reducing collision risks, and reinforcing the importance of following Ontario’s traffic regulations, the release added.

The charges were laid for violations that included using plates not authorized, driving with handheld communication device, no CVOR, and driver failing to properly wear seatbelt.
