ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — The Ministry of Transportation is hosting an open house to discuss improvements to the Huntingdon-Sumas border crossing.

Work on the border crossing will begin this summer and initial plans include the building of a 34-stall truck parking lot. Truckers will have easy access from the truck lot to the U.S. Customs offices and customs brokers.

The $30.4-million enhancements are expected to be completed by the spring of 2004. Displays will be set up at the open house and ministry staff will be on-hand to answer any questions. Those who attend will also have the opportunity to weigh on with a questionnaire.

The open house is taking place Jan. 30 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Upper Sumas elementary school library at 36321 Vye Rd. in Abbotsford.
