OPP nab truck drivers avoiding Gananoque, Ont., inspection station
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) caught truck drivers who were using secondary roads to bypass the truck inspection station in Gananoque, during a blitz last week with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO).
OPP’s Leeds County detachment teamed up with MTO to track down drivers, stop their vehicles and escort them back for inspection, according to a news release.

On July 24, the officers located multiple commercial vehicles on secondary roads, avoiding a truck inspection station, which is against the law.
Over a dozen commercial vehicle inspections were conducted, six of which occurred after vehicles were located bypassing the station. A total of 15 charges were laid, and four commercial vehicles were taken out of service.
One driver, 27-year-old Ashraf Mohammed of Woodstock, Ont., was also charged with possession of an opioid along with many other traffic-related offences.
