SmarTire continues push for commercial product

VANCOUVER, B.C. — Canadian firm SmarTire Systems, has been developing and marketing tire inflation monitoring equipment for more than a decade and now it’s close to entering the commercial market.

The company says it is set to launch several new products for the automotive market and it is in the closing stages of development on a new tire monitoring solution for the trucking community.

As a result of new U.S. legislation (the TREAD Act) that will require some form of tire pressure monitoring on all new U.S. vehicles after 2003, this Canadian company says it is well-positioned to be a key industry supplier.
